A win-win model for producers and consumers

In his recent appearance on the programme Il y a du Neuf (BX1), our co-CEO Eric Rwamucyo explained how energy communities are transforming access to and the sharing of solar energy for Brussels businesses.

For producers: solar panels often generate more electricity than they can consume straight away. Rather than selling it back to the grid at a low price, they can sell it within an energy community at a more advantageous rate.

For consumers: they buy local, clean solar energy at a price below that of the traditional grid.

Brussels offers one of the best models in Europe for this type of community, and we see exciting potential to develop the use of local solar energy even further. The results are clear: more value for producers, lower costs for consumers and a greener future for all.

Eric concluded the interview on an optimistic note: energy communities are replicable, efficient and ready to grow across Belgium.
