WalloWatt, SamenWatt, CityWatt: three new websites to cover all of Belgium

The three main energy communities managed by RaYSun now each have their new website: WalloWatt for Wallonia, SamenWatt for Flanders and CityWatt for Brussels. Three autonomous communities, one manager: RaYSun sets up the solutions and handles the entire operational phase, so that any Belgian business, public body or non-profit can share renewable, local and cheaper electricity — without creating anything and without changing supplier.

Why three communities rather than one?

Because energy sharing is a regional competence. Each Region has its own legal framework, its grid operator (ORES and RESA in Wallonia, Fluvius in Flanders, Sibelga in Brussels) and its membership rules. An energy community is a legal entity, so one is needed per Region to host the energy sharing operations: the concrete groups of members within which kWh are actually exchanged, quarter-hour by quarter-hour.

This distinction — the community on one side, the operations on the other — structures the three websites. It is explained simply there, with the measured figures of every operation.

Autonomous communities, one manager

WalloWatt, SamenWatt and CityWatt are autonomous energy communities: each has its own legal personality, articles of association, general meeting and members, who are its stakeholders. They are not subsidiaries of RaYSun. RaYSun is their manager: it sets up the solutions and ensures the smooth running of every community and every sharing operation, end to end.

In practice, RaYSun takes charge of the entire operational phase:

Members keep the decisions; RaYSun takes care of everything else.

What you will find there

Three Regions, one proven model

These websites are not showcases: they reflect operations that are running today.

In total, seventeen sharing operations and more than 200 members, from the neighbourhood shop to the large industrial site, supported by the same team.

Turnkey, for real

The model is the same in all three Regions. You have nothing to create: the community already exists, with its articles, its accreditation and its agreements with the grid operator. You sign a single contract and join an existing sharing operation, or RaYSun creates a tailor-made one for your business park, your group of companies or your production surplus, within the community of your Region. In both cases, RaYSun then ensures its complete management, year after year.
