EVENT · QUARTIER LIBRE × CITYWATT

What if we shared our neighbourhood's energy?

Evening event · Thursday 24 September 2026, 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm · Quartier Libre bookshop, Uccle

Evening event “What if we shared our neighbourhood's energy?” at Quartier Libre, on 24 September 2026 in Uccle

You may be a customer of a local shop, a member of an association, or an employee of an organisation based in Brussels. Either way, you contribute in your own way to the local economy. And that economy needs energy: energy whose origin and impact we often do not know, and whose price is now just as uncertain.

A bookshop powered by its neighbourhood's rooftops

Quartier Libre, the first cooperative bookshop in Brussels, is a member of CityWatt, the energy community in the heart of Brussels, managed by RaYSun. In practical terms: the electricity that powers the bookshop comes from solar panels installed on the rooftops of its neighbourhood. Produced locally, shared fairly, consumed intelligently.

To show what this looks like in practice, the adventure has been captured on film: a video retracing Quartier Libre's involvement in the community will be shown as a preview screening during the evening.

How an energy community works: producers and consumers share local solar electricity

On the evening's programme

Quartier Libre invites you to explore a simple question: what if our shops, our associations and our local businesses could produce and share their energy with one another?

An evening to understand how the local economy we already know (that of our shops, our associations, our jobs) can also become an energy economy.

To go further: the book selection

Because understanding the energy transition also happens through words, images and stories, Quartier Libre and RaYSun have selected books for all ages: novels and essays to decode the issues, children's books, and comics that make complex subjects accessible to all.

Each cover links to Quartier Libre's online shop, where all these titles are available (collection in the bookshop or bicycle delivery throughout the Brussels Region).
